This is a schematic design proposal for
redevelopment of the existing Acworth Municipal Hospital for Leprosy run by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Spread over 5 hectares of land in the island city area at Wadala, the hospital was started in 1890 and also houses a small unique museum on leprosy in one of the earlier ward buildings.

Th proposed design was laid out with a mix of
low-rise and high-rise buildings to accommodate the growing requirements of the specialized and new progressive needs. The low-rise areas are spread out with courtyards between wards for natural light and ventilation as well as segregation with ease of movement. The high-rise buildings contain required and foreseeable space for administrative, medical and related residential and other activities. Each functional zone is designated for separate access with outdoor spaces for recreation while the interiors are naturally well lit and ventilated sufficiently.
